Geology

Short characteristics of the site: West Carpathians, Račany Unit. Larger area with rocky outcrops and abandoned quarry. Sediments consist of a series of sandstones and conglomerates stratigraphically belonging to the Soláň Formation of a Paleocene age. Sandstones are mostly medium grained of subarkose and subgrewacke cmposition, conglomerates are petromictic. Interesting mesorelief features including aeroxysts and pseudokarst caves. This localikty is protected as a Nature Monument.
