Geology
Short characteristics of the site: Old sand pitty occurs in the south part of Nový Šaldorf village. Four positions of quarts sands with the len of quartz sandstone were found in the lower part of the wall. Staurolites dominate in the assemblages of heavy minerals. The sediments represent shallow-water marine environment. We can observe cross bedding and erosion phenomena on the bedding surface. The sediments belong to the Eggenburgian.
