Geology
Short characteristics of the site: Area with issues of carbonaceous mineral waters and carbon dioxide SE of Františkovy Lázně, in the Tertiary Cheb Basin. Two depressions in Miocene sands and clays are filled with modern diatomite and peat accumulations. About 200 springs of mineral water with mineralization of 1.2 to 6.3 g/l have been documented in the area but only one spring is used for water extraction (Císařský pramen). Carbon dioxide issues form characteristic mofette craters. An educational trail and a museum are in operation.
