Geology

Short characteristics of the site: An abandoned phonolite quarry at Hořany near Most, Tertiary Most Basin. The phonolite displays prominent roll structures, documenting subhorizontal transport of lava.
Regional geologic unit: Bohemian Massif - superficial deposits and post-Variscian magmatites - Tertiary - Basins under Krušné hory Mts.and adjoining volcanic uplands
