Geology

Short characteristics of the site: Quartzite outcrops on top of Hradiště Hill west of Chomutov. The quartzites are Miocene in age and lie in the hangingwall of the lignite seams of the Most Basin. They contain rich fossil flora and fauna. This locality is classified as Nature Monument.
Regional geologic unit: Bohemian Massif - superficial deposits and post-Variscian magmatites - Tertiary - Basins under Krušné hory Mts.and adjoining volcanic uplands
