Geology

Short characteristics of the site: Abandoned giant quarry. Outcrops of typical products of the Upper Proterozoic volcanism. Metabasalt prevails, accompanied by volcanic breccia, hyaloclastites, metatuffs and black shales. Also pillow lavas are present. Volcanologically and petrologically very significant.
Regional geologic unit: Bohemian Massif - crystalline complex and pre-Variscian Palaeozoic - Bohemicum (Central Bohemian region) - Barrandien
