Geology

Short characteristics of the site: Active quarry exposing Tertiary fluvial sediments on kaolinized arkoses and subarkoses of the Carboniferous Kladno Formation. The boundary Carboniferous/Tertiary is well developed and exhibits incised stream valley filled with coarse-grained sediments with boulders of silicites (lydites).
Regional geologic unit: Bohemian Massif - superficial deposits and post-Variscian magmatites - Upper Carboniferous and Permian - Central and Western Bohemian Late Palaeozoicum, Bohemian Massif - superficial deposits and post-Variscian magmatites - Tertiary - Freshwater Tertiary relics
