Geology
Short characteristics of the site: Bohemian Cretaceous Basin. Abandoned sand pit exposing Cretaceous sediments overlying crystalline basement - evidence of the Cretaceous transgression. Bedrock consists of biotite paragneisses of the Orlice-Sněžník crystalline. Transgressive Cretaceous marine sandstones are of the Cenomanian age. These sandstones are fossiliferous with numerous representatives of invertebrates. This quarry is strongly vegetated and partly covered by a scree.
