Geology

Short characteristics of the site: Significant elevation in flat landscape surrounding the Town of Pardubice is built up of tephriphonolitic laccolith. The hill is topped with late-meddieval castle. The rock is exposed by quarry in western a southern part of the hill. The intrusion of the tephriphonolite into Cretaceous sediments is dated to Oligocene. The current shape of the hill results from selective erosion.
