Geology

Short characteristics of the site: Active quarry with so called Bílá Hora opuka. Opuka is a term for fine-grained sediment consisting of clay, lime, silt and silica. Stratotype of the Bílá Hora Formation. Local so called golden opuka was a favourite natural building stone in a romanesque Prague. This quarry is the only source of this precious stone.
